Roar Bjerknes has more than 35 years of Norwegian domestic and international experience in the media and information industries. This includes 13 years journalism in Norway, 10 years journalism in Asia and the Pacific region and 8 years information management in the Norwegian high-tech companies GECO - a Norwegian and leading international geophysical exploration company. And Oceanor - a leader in the field of marine environment monitoring. Sir Arthur C. Clarke, the world's foremost science fiction writer and visionary was a close friend and mentor to Mr Bjerkness. With the late Sir Arthur's keen support, Bjerknes has focused much of his creative energy on developing The GaiaShip Project. The vision behind the 58, 400 dwt. GaiaShip is to provide the world's first ocean-going centre for international cultural, scientific study and debate. This ground breaking international project will be activated through the Nordic-Arc project within the Exemplar-Zero Initiative.
