INUGURAL 2008 HUMANITAD & NOBEL PEACE LAUREATES:

GLOBAL IMPACT FORUM

BEGINNING THE PLANETARY CONVERSATION

VISION

To begin a holistically inspired planetary conversation around the 'story of our times'. At the inaugural Forum we intend to begin the process of awakening people, organizations and nations of the world to the Millennium Development Goals and their importance to our lives and our planet.

The annual global focus event will be a widespread and open invitation to people, NGO’s and nations of the world to collaborate with the opening of a true ‘global democratic highway’ across the world wide web.

This intends to be the global focus platform for an awakening of true global democracy at work and in action. Humanitad will be networking with tens of thousands of organisations representing hundreds of millions of world citizens from all nations, faiths and cultures.

In evolving this seminal framework for the harnessing of universal consensus and the voice of humanity to be heard - Humanitad challenge all people, institutions and corporations of the world committed to peace, liberty and justice - to join us in becoming co-creators of the next chapter in our earthly journey.

OBJECTIVE

The purpose of the Global Impact Forum is to stimulate a global expression of consensus to help inform domestic policies and debate everywhere with a unique emphasis on the Millennium Development Goals. In order to bring this about - we intend establishing an unprecedented democratic platform in history via the world wide web.

The 'referendum' and call for awakened policies which will issue from each annual forum will help energize tens of thousands of civil society, religious, political and social organizations world wide to focus collectively demanding change, unity, and a new era of conscious leadership.

The current debate and dialogue fails to adequately take into account the expression of the growing global consensus on the most pressing critical issues. The Global Impact Forum will act as an ignition point for very real change in these extraordinary times.

One of the integral objectives of the Global Impact Forum will be to establish a worldwide network of Parliamentarians committed to active participation with the annual agenda.

In this respect, we will be inviting Parliamentarians from governments across the globe to endorse and assist with the articulation and dissemination of the ‘key questions’ and the feedback which is created.

This process aims to coordinate a consensus amongst the very individuals who have the power to raise and address critical concerns (levelled by citizens of the world) - to their own parliaments and institutions of governance.

As a body of peers, united across borders, cultures and political boundaries - many such figures would feel substantially empowered were their voice to be echoed by an international peer community

HOW WE PLAN TO DO IT

By conducting an annual world referendum on key issues (questions) raised during the ‘live’ forum. Each GIF will raise and illustrate critical questions to people of the world - inviting feed-back, solutions and consensus. In addition to the 'critical questions' we will furthermore stimulate challenging questions to be posed to political candidates and leadership figures in the United Nations and from nations across the globe.

Questions such as:

  1. What are your plans to protect the global commons, such as the oceans, the climate, and the rain forests?
  2. What are your plans to address poverty and ensure sustainable livelihoods and productive just employment?
  3. What are your plans to eliminate nuclear weapons universally?

The 'votes' and feedback of the global referendum will be distilled into a published record, signed-off by the Nobel Peace Laureates, leadership and luminaries in attendance and dispatched to all governments world leaders. It will also be widely disseminated amongst the international press and an established network of tens of thousands of NGO’s across the globe, empowering them with a common tool and manifesto.
